For the 18th consecutive year, H.N. Funkhouser & Company has partnered with the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance to present each of Frederick County’s 20 schools with a $500 grant to support math and science programs.

Schools Superintendent David Sovine says, “Community partnerships such as the one we enjoy with H.N. Funkhouser & Company enable us to better serve our students and prepare them to be successful, engaged citizens. For nearly 20 years, the grants provided by the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance and H.N. Funkhouser & Company have helped enable our schools to provide students with many unique opportunities to explore and engage in math and science. We greatly value the support we receive from all of our community partners who recognize that the investment of time, talent and treasure in our students yields great dividends for our community.”

Since H.N. Funkhouser & Company began working to secure grants through the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance to benefit Frederick County Public Schools in 2001-02, contributions totaling $163,250 have been made to support math and science instruction.

H.N. Funkhouser & Company Chief Executive Officer Bob Claytor says, “I fondly recall my years as a student in Frederick County Public Schools, particularly my years at James Wood High School. Being able to present principals with checks from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance is always a pleasure. I also enjoy hearing how the funds are utilized to help engage students in the study of math and science. Our community benefits from outstanding school systems and I’m proud to be able to support them and invest in our community’s children.”

H.N. Funkhouser & Company Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ken Rice says, ”Helping students develop a greater interest in science, technology, engineering and math is very important to ExxonMobil as those areas of study are critically important to innovation and the development of new technologies. H.N. Funkhouser & Company has enjoyed a long, positive relationship with Frederick County Public Schools and we’re proud to be able to continue to enrich the lives of students by providing these grants again this year.”
